In my work the visual narrative is a line of enquiry which doesn't necessarily have a happy ending or neat conclusion. Images lead images that twist and curl around each other to form circular paths of revelation. These fictions trope on historical paintings and spoken stories, such as those told by my mother to create a grand topography of ‘truthful’ realities.


Illusory and remembered local English characters and places merge into one nostalgic landscape that comments on Romanticism; the power of its political exploitation. The resultant pictorial distortions question an art historical foundation upon which contemporary experience lies.
