In my work i am trying to create entities. They are still lives that teeter over into portraiture.My paintings tend to become self portraits, inevitably taking on some aspect of myself in their creation. Cellos boom mournfully, guitars whine. They all seem to become a bit self conscious, a bit awkward. I make these entites to fit a soundscape i have heard or one i have imagined ,assembling props associated with various disciplines; the easel, the psychologist couch, church organs, bodily organs, objects suggesting other objects.
