The train journeys across the frozen English countryside. Outside, fencing, grass, shrubs, twigs and rocks jute through snow. Whites, pinks, greens and blues sparkle in its crystals.The structures that make up the railway: signals, switches, junctions, bridges and overhead lines sing out and I watch and wait for them. The train presses on. In the darkness that comes so early I close my eyes. I think and begin to dream. Slowly shifting and mutating, images float, disconnected, in my minds eye; I wander away from them and then I wander back, and the forms begin to take on a life of their own.
